The mitochondria: are the cell's powerhouse, Providing chemical energy to the cell in the form of ATP molecules. They are round or oval shaped, double-membrane-bound organelles in the eukaryotic cells that produce ATP, an energy unit that keeps a cell charged so it can carry out cellular functions.
