Plasma membrane

The plasma membrane: is the outermost membrane, resembling an envelope, that surrounds the cell and its organelles. It is known by , the phospholipid bilayer, this double-membraned cell organelle is found in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

The plasma membrane serves as a border and is selectively permeable in all live cells, enabling specific chemicals to enter and exit. Additionally to these functions, the plasma membrane establishes a link between the cell and its surroundings.
