Adipose cells: are connective tissue cells that have been specifically trained to produce and hold big fat globules. Adipose cells are classified into two types: brown adipose cells have round, centrally located nuclei, multiple mitochondria, a large amount of cytoplasm, and fat droplets of varying sizes. White adipose cells have large fat droplets, only a small amount of cytoplasm, and flattened, noncentrally located nuclei.
